We have received reports from some RAC members that they have experienced recent phishing attacks. If you receive a phishing scam emails like the one shown below, please do not click the link in the emails: it could lead you to a different site, not the one depicted in the original email itself.
Example of phishing attempt:
Dear rac.ca email service user,
We acknowledge receipt of your request to close your <call sign>@rac.ca mailbox. Content includes an indication to shut down your RAC email account in 72 hours. The email also requests that you complete a form to continue your <call sign>@rac.ca account.
Fraudulent emails such as these are typically sent to obtain personal and private financial information. They ask for confidential information such as your account username, account number and email password.
Radio Amateurs of Canada does not send out mail signed by the general rac.ca Email Account Service. We always sign our correspondence with the names and titles of a legitimate RAC officer (like the one shown at the end of this message) or the RAC Office Coordinator.
We also indicate if the message comes from our subscriber service such as our MailChimp, or eton.ca which provides opting out methods.
